Ton van Herwaarde (1967) is a self taught artist based in Tilburg, The Netherlands. His artistic abilities were inspired at a very young age by artist like Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals and Rembrandt van Rijn, the three Dutch old masters. At a later stage of his artistic life he got influenced by Hajime Sorayama, a Japanese master in realistic drawing skills. Those 4 artists Ton considers as his teachers in art, by studying their techniques over and over again.
In 2014 Ton invents his own unique technique: Reflected paintings. Handprinted artworks that are custom made on a surface of sheet aluminium and painted with ink. By looking at these works of art you notice how the painting catches the surrounding light and colors, therefore the painting will always fit in your interior and is constantly in movement. His strong eye for detail and the use of this technique makes that this artist is one of kind.
